Acaena inermis purpurea

Description

Common Name:

Purple Bidibidi

Description:

A native groundcover grown for its bright purple-red foliage.

Flower:

Insignificant flower spikes.

Size:

Approximately 75cm spread.

Growing Conditions:

Considered tough, thriving in exposed places with poor soil, Acaena’s only requirements are good drainage and planting in full sun to get the best foliage colour.

Care:

Very little care needed except for watering in dry spells.

Uses:

  • Great groundcover for foliage colour.
  • Great rockeries plant.
  • Useful in containers or hanging baskets.

Comments:

As a groundcover, Acaena looks good in either a native themed garden with any of the grasses or flaxes or in combination with a range of flowering perennials.
