Trachelospermum jasminoides

Description

Common Name:

Star Jasmine.

Description:

A hardy climber with large leathery leaves.

Flower:

Small, four petal flowers are highly fragrant.

Size:

Can cover up to 4m high, but trims very well, so can fit into smaller gardens and patios.

Growing Conditions:

Will perform best if it is planted in a sheltered and sunny spot. Needs well draining soil.

Care:

This climber needs little care except for an occasional tidy up prune.

Uses:

  • A climber for fences and trellis etc. Makes a great screen or divider if planted on a trellis frame.
  • Makes a great groundcover. Just peg down the stems and then trim the upright growth.

Comments:

Star Jasmine isn’t the quickest growing climber but in the long run this makes it an easy care option. With fragrant flowers and an attractive form it is a great choice in the garden.
